I think I’ll donate $4.20 a month to Soma, and probably switch off the personal Funkwhale instance I set up. Cool as it is, if I’m streaming music from internet radio, and listening to albums I own when offline, I might as well just copy the files to my phone directly, rather than the Funkwhale/Subsonic Rube Goldberg machine. Saves me hosting fees per month.
It’s nice to get LineageOS weekly updates automatically from within the OS, no need to download from an external site.

The update process is not as intuitive as it could be – reboots to TWRP, then I had to select ‘Install’ and find the update package at /data/lineageos_updates.

Don’t know what has changed (is there a changelog?). Noticed it has bumped up to October 5th patch level which is nice, caveats about what that actually means aside…

Hey maybe I’ll view that as an opportunity actually. A return to more considered listening of favourite artists and albums, rather than a constant stream of new tracks. Ooh yeah that works.
RadioDroid (and in particular the SomaFM cliqhop station) has me kicking myself I used a big streaming service for so long. Ticks all the boxes I need for music discovery and streaming background music.

I’m not quite there with offline listening yet… the funkwhale / subsonic set up still has a bit of friction I’d like to remove. I’ve got like 8 tracks available that I’m listening to on solid repeat when out and about at the moment…
