Trying to be indieweb and open source, I kind of feel 50% Kevin Flynn, 50% black-and-whiter in the Metaverse.
Mastodon seems like an example of decent UX in OSS. I’d wager that drove quite a lot of the new signups it got recently.
The 100 paper cuts thing that Ubuntu used to do (still does?) was a good idea. Pick off UX issues one by one.
There needs to be some kind of push to get UX designers working on open-source.
Trying AndStatus out as an open source microblogging client. Initial thoughts: feature rich, UX not so hot.
Fdroid provides a great resource for open source android apps. Bit clunky to use, but hey ho.
The systematic construction of dissatisfaction
Say what you like about WordPress, it’s right up there as one of *the* most successful open-source projects.
Like Vaclav Havel’s Disturbing the Peace, arguments made from within the thick of it have that much more weight.
