@tobi it’s can’t replace the ability to interact with and post content, but can replace Facebook etc as a content feed from all your preferred sources.
I’ve got mine setup with subscriptions to news, blogs, YouTube, this day in history etc. All without having to log in, see ads(there are some in You…

The Indieweb approach and social readers[1] such as Monocle[2], Together[3], and Indigenous on mobile[4] combine posting and social interactions with feed reading. It’s super cool!

The Bits and Baums conference looks like it was really good. A coming together of leftist techies and environmentalists to find common ground and common demands and strategies.

“Civil society and a critical scientific community have the skills and the strength to help shape digitization in the long term. We cannot merely leave digitization to business and politics.”

A good wide breadth of areas of tech covered in their demands too. Looks promising. Would like to go if there is one next year.

A circuit made from lemons, copper coins and galvanised nails. Lighting up a low-current LED.

The copper and zinc are electrodes, amd the lemon juice is an electrolyte. The acid in the lemon juice reacts chemically with the zinc and liberates electrons. These flow to the copper. Three of these electrochemical batteries in series is enough to light a low-current LED.

I mean this stuff is like woahhh. Absolutely fascinating!

Hmm, noticed a couple of things to sort out indieweb-wise:

– replies/likes via micropub don’t seem to send webmentions?
– replies/likes via micropub are created as WordPress link posts, not asides, so I need to do the same thing as I did with asides to fix the problem with too much content being sent through

Measured the potential difference of all the components in a circuit and it adds up to the voltage of the battery. Dropped the resistance in the potentiometer, and the PD in the resistor in the circuit jumped up. Everything still adds up to voltage of battery. I assume it means the resistor is then doing more work? Super cool!
