I was subscribed to the Mozilla newsletter with two difference email addresses, and getting the exact same mailshot but with a different subject line for each. Kind of interesting, I guess they must do A/B testing on which subject gets more opens.

This was a good piece by Lisa Nandy I thought.
Some of the calls for individual action on climate crisis don’t take into account daily life for a lot of people in working-class towns in the UK. e.g. guilt shaming about driving a car, when public transport systems have been neglected for years.
Green new deal and green jobs could be a good positive framing I think.
At the moment, my view is something along the lines of:
– Do what you can as an individual, to the best of your ability
– Don’t be overburdened by guilt if you can’t do it all
– Be very conscious that not everyone is in a position to do what you think is ‘doing the right thing’ (including yourself)
– The system is pretty rigged against doing the right thing, so ultimately the system is the one that needs to change
– Individual behaviour change is probably a part of bringing about system change

It’s all really interesting, in particular that question of – what scale should we be pushing change?
Does individual action make any difference? Does a small org make any difference? Such a tough one but I totally agree that “at the very least we can spread the message, the intent, the energy to our friends, family, and possibly our clients, who might spread it onwards.”

Just using simple org files and org-publish to get going, but very pleased to have a starting point to grow further.
Was looking for something to make a personal knowledge base in. I just want something simple that’s just backed by plain text and version control and you can statically publish. Spent a while looking at personal wiki software. ikiwiki (https://ikiwiki.info/) and Gollum (https://github.com/gollum/gollum) both look pretty cool, but more than I need. I just went with org files and org-publish in the end.
Listened to the interview with Ludovic Courtès on #LibreLounge. Guix sounds so cool. So many nice features, but one that particularly tickles my fancy at the moment is having the OS config in one file, that you can just rebuild a system with. I was trying to do something like that for Debian a while back, but sounds like Guix has it baked in.

Thanks for posting this. I completely agree that talking about mental health issues in the open is really helpful to remove some of the stigma associated. It can be a bit scary, but the more people do it, the more normalised it will be. I posted about my social anxiety a while back.
Flophouse_Sam (mastodon.social)I haven’t used it, but /e/ seems like a great idea. It makes degoogling a lot simpler than doing it yourself on an existing phone. The phones are refurbished, which is good environmentally. It provides services to replace some of those you’d miss from degoogling. Also Gael Duval the founder is on the Fediverse 😉 @gael
